Our history

Jacar Systems was founded in 2002 from a passion for emerging technologies and people. More than two decades always working with the most current stack of the moment: from the first LAMP servers and the rise of AJAX, through cloud, containers and virtualization, to generative AI and autonomous agents.

We design complete technology solutions, not just code: high-availability clusters, communications and networks, embedded systems, virtualization, 24/7 observability and also web applications, APIs and ERP. In every project we integrate every layer — hardware, system, network and software — working as a single whole.

For us, a solid solution starts long before the code: by understanding the business, selecting the right technologies and designing each layer of the stack with intent.

Founded in Madrid

Jacar Systems is founded. First dynamic websites on LAMP, physical Pentium 4 servers on-premise, and 1 Mbps ADSL as the major advance in Spain.

LAMP and .NET Framework 1.1

Two stacks accompany us: LAMP (Linux + Apache + MySQL + PHP) on the server and .NET Framework 1.1 with Visual Studio .NET 2003 for Windows applications. First Compaq iPaq PDAs with Windows Mobile 2003 for clients on the road. Wi-Fi 802.11g reaches the enterprise.

2004
Web 2.0, Firefox, and .NET

Gmail launches 1 GB free. Facebook is born. Firefox 1.0 breaks IE's monopoly. The Web 2.0 era kicks off and CSS takes center stage. In parallel, corporate projects in .NET with Visual Studio and Windows Mobile 2003 SE PDAs for the sales force.

AJAX, .NET 2.0, and rugged PDAs

AJAX revolutionizes web applications (Google Maps, YouTube). PHP 5 with OOP. .NET Framework 2.0 with generics and Visual Studio 2005. ASP.NET 2.0 on the backend. Symbol/Motorola rugged PDAs with Windows Mobile 5.0 in warehouses and logistics. Multi-core reaches the desktop.

AWS, jQuery, and .NET 3.0

AWS launches EC2 and S3 — the cloud computing era begins. jQuery 1.0. Git created by Linus Torvalds. Microsoft releases .NET Framework 3.0 with WPF, WCF, and Workflow Foundation — our Windows applications take a leap forward in interface.

iPhone, .NET 3.5, and rugged PDAs

The iPhone redefines personal computing. .NET 3.5 with LINQ and Visual Studio 2008. Windows Mobile 6 on rugged PDAs (Motorola MC9090, Symbol, Intermec) for warehouses, stores, and field service at retail and logistics clients. Wi-Fi 802.11n quadruples bandwidth.

Chrome, GitHub, and ASP.NET MVC

Google Chrome revolutionizes browsers with V8. GitHub is born and redefines collaboration. Android 1.0 hits the market. .NET 3.5 SP1 and first preview of ASP.NET MVC. Windows Mobile 6.1 PDAs still dominating field service. Bitcoin whitepaper published.

NoSQL and Node.js

Node.js, MongoDB, Redis and Cassandra arrive — the NoSQL movement. Google introduces the Go language. Event-driven architectures enter our projects.

LTE and tablets

Commercial LTE, the iPad is born, Instagram and Chrome OS. HTML5 takes off and we abandon Flash. Ubuntu Unity. The rise of content delivery networks.

Raspberry Pi launches — we start prototyping lightweight embedded systems. Hadoop 1.0 and the Big Data era. TypeScript announced by Microsoft.

Docker is born — containers

Docker 0.1 released — the seed of modern containerization. AngularJS goes mainstream. React announced. After the Snowden affair, we push TLS everywhere.

Containers in production

Docker 1.0 GA. We start deploying apps in containers on KVM hosts, and Nagios gives way to Zabbix. Swift launches at WWDC and Heartbleed is a reminder of how important patching is.
